Here is an up to date pack of information on my stock of: 216 strand Lucent TrueWave Fibre Optic cable, stored in Germany (Frankfurt am Main area).



471,429 kilometers remaining on 91 reels (471, 429 meters / 1, 546, 287 feet).



Previously conducted a comprehensive OTDR testing program on the full inventory, testing each of the 216 strands on every reel. Example test reports are attached. All strands are in full spec as-new perfect working order. The cable is designed to perform to the original specification for 75+ years from manufacture.



The stock was part of a much larger order from Lucent, the bulk of which is in the ground in Europe, forming the backbone of the MetroMedia Fibre Network / EU Networks. It is laid in rings around London, Dublin, most major German cities, Paris etc… Amounts of this stock have also been used to extend networks linking German cities, to extend a souther Texan network and to extend a network throughout Manhattan including on Wall Street.



I have attached the references for 3 different valuation approaches:



1. The original purchase price (in 2000) that was paid to Lucent to manufacture for the cable in Atlanta, Georgia USA:



USD $ 23,39 per meter

471, 429 x $ 23,39 per meter = USD $ 11, 026, 724



2. a I have had OFS / Lucent themselves re-quote for all the stock some time ago



EUR € 13,05 per meter / USD $13,34 per meter.

471, 429 x $ 13,34 per meter = USD $ 6.288.863

2. b I also received another valuation from OFS / Lucent in 2017



EUR € 8,10 per meter / USD $ 8,28 per meter

471, 429 x $ 8,28 per meter = USD $ 3.903.432 (34 week lead time pre-Covid). Price will have increased some 20-30% in the past 5 years (approx USD $ 5m now)

3. Immediate Liquidation Value. Independant Fibre Optic cable traders are quoting me a purchase price of $ 7,72 per meter for lower spec cable which is similar, though not of the quality of Lucent / USA. However, space on the production lines is now very difficult to secure. Since Covid, lead times have stretched to over 12 months for this type of cable, which adds to the value of this ready-made stock.
