CATERPILLAR 3616 TYPE V-16 UNUSED GENERATOR SETS or SIMILAR



We need continuous generation of 6 MVA under an N+1 redundancy philosophy. We are talking about critical infrastructure requiring high availability. To cover 6 MVA with redundancy, the most efficient configuration is to use four 2000 kVA units (2 MVA each).



In this way, three units cover the nominal load (3 x 2 = 6 MVA) or equivalent, and the fourth remains in active reserve or to allow for maintenance without affecting operation.

Required Load: 6 MVA (4 units * 2 MW * 0.75) + Backup (1) unit

1. Diesel Engine (Heavy Duty)

Application: Continuous Rating (24/7 Operation)

Configuration: Minimum 16 cylinders in a V configuration, turbocharged and aftercooled.



Displacement: >50 Liters



Fuel Injection System: Electronic (Common Rail or EUI) to optimize fuel consumption and comply with emissions standards (Tier 2 or higher).



Starting: 24V electric starter motor with charging alternator; other starter types are optional.



Filtration: High-efficiency fuel filters with water separator and full-flow oil filters.



2. Alternator (Generator)



Power: 2000 kVA / 1600 kW @ 0.8 PF



Voltage: 480V / 277V (or the required distribution voltage), 3-Phase, 60Hz

Insulation: Class H with protection against saline/humid environments (tropicalized).



Voltage Regulation (AVR): Digital, ±0.5% accuracy.



Excitation: Permanent Magnet (PMG) to withstand load spikes and short circuits.

3. Soundproof Enclosure and Mobility



Soundproofing: 40-foot container-type enclosure (High Cube) with noise attenuation of 75-85 dB(A) at 7 meters.



Construction: Galvanized steel with corrosion-resistant epoxy paint and Class 1 fire-absorbing material.



Trailer: Heavy-duty 3- or 4-axle chassis, ABS braking system, standard lights, and hydraulic or mechanical leveling jacks for stability during operation. Other alternatives are acceptable; this is for reference only.



Accessibility: Wide side doors for major maintenance and integrated access stairs.



4. Control and Synchronization System (Key for N+1)



Controller: Deep Sea 8610 or ComAp InteliGen module (capable of automatic load sharing and synchronization).



Features:



Automatic start/stop based on load demand.



Integrated protections (oil pressure, temperature, overspeed, load failure).



Remote monitoring via Modbus/Ethernet.



Transfer: Motorized power switch (LSIG) integrated into the container. 5. Auxiliary Systems



Fuel Tank: Integrated into the container base (sub-base) with a minimum autonomy of 8-12 hours at full load, with an external filling system.



Cooling: Radiator for ambient temperatures up to 50°C, with a mechanically or electrically driven (VFD) fan.



Exhaust: Critical-type muffler installed internally in the container with a vertical outlet.
