1961 Aston Martin DB4 Series III
This 1961 Aston Martin DB4 Series III is a remarkably original and well-preserved survivor with known history from new. Blue with its original blue leather interior, the DB4 presents a rare opportunity to acquire a genuine survivor from Aston Martin’s golden era. The car remained under single ownership from 1969 until 2019 and has covered approximately 2,000 miles during the past 24 years. Mechanically sound and retaining its original character, it can be enjoyed as a well-preserved driver with minor cosmetics and servicing, or it could provide an excellent foundation for a full restoration to concours condition. Its original RF.60 registration logbook provides fascinating provenance. Chassis 619/R was first registered, as EHS 66, to Messrs Sexton Son & Everard of Norwich on May 1, 1961. The second recorded owner was Dawn Addams, believed to be the British film and television actress of the same name. Addams is perhaps best remembered for appearing alongside Roger Moore in several episodes of the ITV series The Saint, as well as her regular role in Thames Television’s sitcom Father, Dear Father. Following two further owners, the DB4 passed to Michael Druce of Kintbury Garages Ltd, who subsequently sold the Aston Martin to B.C. Fell in July 1969, with the original sales receipt retained on file. The RF.60 logbook notes a change in engine number from 673 to 637; this may simply represent the correction of a clerical error. In May 2019, the DB4 was sold to another UK owner before being imported to the United States, where it joined the previous owners collection in 2021. During its time with that owner, the car was driven approximately 1,000 miles. Reported maintenance included regular oil changes and the replacement of several hoses. The car is accompanied by an impressive collection of supporting documentation and literature, including its original and current V5/V5C documents, expired tax discs, MoT certificates dating from 2002 through 2019, SORN paperwork, photocopied literature, a workshop manual, and a parts book. With its exceptional originality, documented history, desirable specification, and connection to Aston Martin’s celebrated DB4 era, this is a compelling opportunity for the enthusiast or collector seeking an authentic example. Equally at home on a long-distance tour, historic rally, concours event, or simply a spirited local drive, this DB4 is a genuine survivor with a lot of potential.
